Careers FAQ
About Working Here
What does your company do?
DX Electric Company is a independent electrical distributor serving contractors, builders, industrial, and commercial customers across Texas. We supply wire and cable, lighting, gear, fittings, tools, and related electrical products — getting the right materials to our customers quickly and reliably. As a smaller company, every team member has a real impact on our customers and on each other.
What's it like to work here?
We’re a tight-knit team where people know each other by name and pitch in to get the job done. You’ll find a fast-paced, supportive, hands-on environment with less red tape than a large corporation and more opportunity to be seen, heard, and to grow. We value reliability, a good attitude, and taking care of customers and coworkers alike.
Do I need experience in the electrical industry to apply?
No. Many of our roles — warehouse, delivery, and entry-level positions — don’t require prior electrical or distribution experience. What matters most is a strong work ethic, dependability, and a willingness to learn. We provide training on our products, systems, and processes, and product knowledge grows quickly on the job.
What types of jobs do you offer?
Common roles include warehouse associate, delivery driver, inside/counter sales, outside sales, purchasing/buyer, and administrative and support positions. Openings vary by location and season — check our current listings on our careers page for what’s available now.
Applying
How do I apply?
Browse our open positions on our careers page and submit an application online. You can also email your resume to careers@dxelectric.com. If you don’t see a role that fits, you’re welcome to send us your resume and we’ll keep it on file.
What happens after I submit my application?
Our team reviews every application. If your background looks like a good match, we’ll reach out to set up a phone and/or in-person interview. You can typically expect to hear from us within 10 business days. We do our best to keep candidates informed throughout the process.
Do you hire entry-level candidates, students, or recent grads?
Yes. Several of our roles are great entry points into the electrical distribution industry, and we’ve had team members build long careers starting from the warehouse floor.
Do you require a background check or drug screening?
Yes — offers are contingent on a background check and/or drug screening, consistent with applicable law. Driving roles also require a valid license and a clean driving record.
Pay, Benefits & Schedule
What benefits do you offer?
We offer a competitive benefits package, which may include health, dental, and vision insurance; 401(k) with company match; paid time off and holidays. Specific benefits and eligibility depend on the role — we’re happy to walk through the details during the interview process.
What are the typical work hours?
Most positions are full-time, with occasional overtime during busy periods. Some roles or locations may offer part-time or Saturday hours. We’ll be clear about the schedule for any role you interview for.
Is pay hourly or salaried?
It depends on the position. Warehouse, driver, and administration roles are typically hourly; sales and management roles may be salaried or include commission/incentives. Compensation is based on the role, your experience, and the market.
Growth & Expectations
Are there opportunities to grow or advance?
Absolutely. We prefer to promote from within whenever we can, and because we’re a smaller company, motivated people can take on more responsibility quickly. It’s common for team members to move from the warehouse into driving, counter sales, purchasing, or outside sales as they grow their skills and product knowledge.
What kind of training will I receive?
New team members go through onboarding and hands-on training covering safety, our products, our systems, and how we take care of customers. You’ll have experienced coworkers and supervisors to learn from, and product knowledge continues to build over time on the job.
Are the roles physically demanding?
Some are. Warehouse and driver positions involve standing, lifting, and moving product and working in a warehouse environment. Office and sales roles are less physical. We’ll outline the specific requirements for any position during the hiring process.
Where are you located?
We operate two location(s) in Grapevine and Houston. Current openings and their locations are listed at our careers page.
